Wednesday, went up to Blackwood Park in the hope of getting my first round together at my potential new club, as my golf clubs arrived in the container at long last, last week. On arrival it was choca, I thought it was a society or corporate day, but supposedly just a normal Wednesday, where they hold in internal club competition. What a turnout I have to say. All tees and fairways and car park full. Anyway met the Social Secretary who offered to play a round with me shortly. Looks a great club, not only in terms of the course but the Clubhouse, facilities and perhaps for me right now, in social terms.
Being impossible to play there I rolled up at Belair Golf and Country Club, which sounds very grandiose, but in reality is just a pay and play. A couple of societies use it at the weekends as a regular base, but no formal club. They do seem to be big on weddings and functions though, as the setting is beautiful. Anyway elected for 9-12 holes as time was now against me. On playing down the 3rd, what do I see ahead crossing the fairway (my ball was way offline in amongst the trees!) but a Koala. He seemed unperturbed by me, as he allowed me to get up quite close. The round of golf was nowhere as exciting, a good country walk - generally amongst the trees.
Friday 31st - Halloween (which they do not really go for here) and the diggers have now moved in on our plot of land. Unusual to get quite so excited about watching a CAT dig and disperse a load of earth, but it's kind of a milestone (not millstone I hope) in our lives. Only about 9 months to go, before we are back into our own home once again. It's been a long road so far.
